Just in case anyone's still checking here, I've moved again, hopefully for the last time.
Here's the new blog.

| Brand New Blog
Ok, folks. I was tempted by the thirty day trial membership and now I'm hooked. Introducing....
Eat, Drink and Be Glad
my new blog. (Still in development, a bit.)
You can read it's mission statement or whatever in the About section over there. But, basically, I'm going to be resuming my food/ recipe efforts plus keep blogging a mixture of deep thoughts (or at least links to deep thoughts) and the incredibly true adventures of Elijah and Eve. Plus, the blog doesn't look crappy anymore. Yay!
I'm not going to delete anything here; in fact, I've got to start a personal archive on my computer of things I posted here. I (or B and I) have been doing this xanga blog for the better part of two years here, and there's a lot I want to keep forever, especially stuff about the kids.
So, there you have it. See you on the new site.
| Let it Snow?
Well, it is. For real, for the first time since we moved to the
"snow belt." I think it's pretty fortunate that we're into December and
it hasn't really done anything substantial yet. And, this isn't
supposed to amount to much- just an inch or two. Looks pretty white out
there now, though. I was planning on going to the gym today but
decided that today was not a good day to venture out of the house. So,
instead, I ate a pack of M&Ms. Poop. One step forward, lots of
chocolate back.
Not a lot else to report. Working on Christmas cards, so if you've
moved recently and you read this blog, please email me. We're starting
the process of looking for a house to buy which means we've contacted a
real estate agent and gotten the ball rolling on getting pre approved
for a mortgage. I'm determined not to get stressed out about this.
We're not in a hurry. I'm glad that 1) we've decided we like this area
and want to stay 2) we have the means to buy a house and 3) because
everything is so freakin' cheap around here, we have the means to buy a
nice house. There's a lot to be thankful for there. I guess we're going
to go out Sunday and look at a few places.
Eve is crawling fast now and pulling up to standing. Sheesh-
that was fast. Elijah puked this morning and hasn't wanted to eat much
today. Isn' t this an exciting entry?

| LOST
(I'm a blogging fool today, I guess...)
Holy Cow. Does anyone watch Lost? I read about it in the NYTimes in few weeks back and then surfed on and off of it a couple times. Today? I was totally captivated - frickin scared the crap out of me. Liek a quality horror movie. Like I need another TV show to watch....
| Those Crazy Mormons
I'm kinda sad about Ken. Really, could there be a nicer guy? What a total nerd, but what an endearing fellow. We Tivoed Ken's loss last night because our pastor came for a visit, and we thought it was appropriate to talk to her instead of make her watch Ken with us. I admit I just watched all of the entertainment shows tonight to hear all of the Ken interviews. He's smart, he's humble, he's even kind of funny in a dorky way. And I just tuned into the first post-Ken episode which featured... a Ken interview at the beginning! He said that he's had a very happy life, and he doesn't want to change much of anything about it now. A very happy life. I'm not sure a lot of folks would characterize their lives in quite those terms.
Put the downfall of Ken together with the loss of my favorite team on The Amazing Race last night- two Mormon sisters, a class act all the way- and I got to thinking about why Mormons are so darn appealing.
As Anne Lamott (a Christian) puts it, and I'm paraphrasing here: believing in Jesus is kind of crazy; Mormons are crazier that you have to be. So, I think their religion is a little wacky. Other than that..... they're nice. Occasionally, annoyingly nice. But I'd rather have my neighbors knocking on my door and bringing me cookies and gifts for Eve(all our Mormon dentist neighbors in Michigan) than ignoring my existance entirely (many of our other non-Mormon neighbors.) Really, the best take on the whole thing that I've seen was a episode of South Park. Its take home message: their religion makes no historical or logical sense, but it doesn't matter in the end because they have amazingly strong families and are wonderful members of their communities.
